Battle of the Books Team:  Students in grades 6-8 may try out for this team in January.  To get started, students should read the required books listed on the library page. Once the team is organized, students study together to prepare for the city-wide Battle of the Books Competition in March.  Sponsored by Mrs. Laren Hammonds.

Chess Team: Participants compete in games of strategy to hone their critical thinking skills. Sponsored by Mr. Jon Hall.

Robotics Team:  Students work together to prepare for the Shelton State Community College BEST Robotics Competition and at The University of Alabama robotics competition in the spring. Sponsored by Ms. Shelly Huver.

Scripp's National Spelling Bee:  Students participate in class-level spelling bees to qualify for our local school and county spelling bees. Sponsored by Mrs. Laren Hammonds. 

Math Team: Math team is suited for students who are interested in math, logic, independent learning, competition and teamwork. Math team will compete at area math competitions throughout the year. Sponsored by Ms. Victoria Smith.

Debate Team: Sponsored by Mr. Jeremiah Acreman, the debate team encourages students to build public speaking skills and hone their arguments on important issues in our world.

Science Team: Science team members create projects to compete in the regional STEM Showcase and develop their knowledge and skills to prep for the Science Olympiad. Sponsored by Mrs. Hannah Reed.
